HOMEMAEDE is a marbling studio + brand specializing in paper goods, home decor, and workshops located in Chicago by artist + designer Megan Mae Edwards.
The Story Behind the Brand Name
HOMEMAEDE celebrates thoughtful, hands-on making and the beauty of creating slowly with intention. “Maede” is an old term referring to a table set with abundance, a meaning that naturally connects to the recurring motifs of food, flora, and fauna woven throughout Megan’s work.
The name also carries personal meaning: “Mae” is Megan’s middle name, passed down from her grandmother, making the brand both a creative signature and a reflection of care and connection.
Process
Marbling is the centuries-old craft that blends painting, printmaking, and science by using floating paints to make monotype prints on paper and fabric.
Megan creates patterns on natural materials, like paper, cotton fabric, and wood to develop collaged artwork, home textiles, and decor pieces.
